There are two big sale seasons in the ski industry: Labor Day, as the season is ramping up; and the end-of-season sales in March and April as winter winds down. These are sales you want to pay attention to, and when you’re most likely to find the best deals on the ski gear you need.
Maybe you’re cobbling together a spring break trip, or perhaps you’re dusting off the mountain bike. Either way, spend a few minutes taking stock of what’s missing in your ski kit, and what you might want to replenish. The pieces of gear below represent a tiny fraction of what’s on offer at REI’s Member Sale (through March 23) and Evo’s Last Chair Sale. Dial it in before it’s all gone.
The Best End-of-Season Deals at REI and Evo

Smith I/O Mag ChromaPop Goggles
This goggle is always a staff favorite thanks to its massive field of vision and quality spherical Carbonic-x lenses that serve up crystal-clear vision, sun protection, and comfort in one stylish package. Two lenses are included, and the I/O Mag’s magnetic lens-swap system is one of the best on the market. These retail at $283, but some styles are clocking in at $168 at REI. That’s a steal.

Anon Oslo Wave Cell Helmet
Hands-down one of the best park and freeride helmets on the market right now, Anon’s Oslo Wave Cell is about as low-profile and lightweight as you can get. With that comes fewer features, but our testers appreciated the venting, the moisture-wicking liner, and the easy BOA knob to help dial in the perfect fit. The Oslo is 30 percent off in two colorways right now, bringing it down to $171 at REI.

The North Face Women’s Thermoball Hooded Insulated Jacket
A good insulator is a critical part of any ski kit. If you’re in need of one, or looking for a new option, we highly recommend TNF’s super-lightweight Thermoball. It’s synthetic, stuffed with 100-percent Windwall recycled polyester insulation, so it won’t wet out with sweat or precipitation, and its warmth-to-weight can’t be beat. All colors are marked down on Evo right now, with great sizing availability.

Flylow Men’s Malone Jacket
This regularly $420 ski jacket is marked down in all sizes and colorways, so any guys looking for a solid shell best snap this up while supplies last. It’s a three-layer, PFAS-free, completely seam-sealed waterproof jacket, so it checks all the essential boxes, plus its color-blocking style is on trend.

Smartwool Men’s Classic Thermal Merino Base Layer Crew
While not the most exciting component in your kit, your base layer is one of the most important. Which is why when Smartwool’s marquis product goes on sale, it’s as good a time as any to stock up. This 100-percent merino top is soft and stretchy, with flatlock seams to avoid chafing and interlock knit for durability and temperature regulation. Select colors and prints are currently marked down to $86 from $115 at Evo.

Wild Rye Jane Cropped Legging
One you try a boot-top base layer, you’ll never go back, and this pretty option from Wild Rye is an amazing 60 percent off at REI. The 100-percent merino bottom comes in two colors, and both had decent availability at press time. Already a fan? This is a great excuse to nab an extra pair of this typically $100 bottom.

Ray Ban Drifter Sunglasses
It’s spring, time to trade in your goggles for a pair of sunnies. But if you’re going to opt for sunglasses, the old drugstore variety just won’t do. You need elite-level protection to shield your eyes from the sun—and its strong reflection on the snow. These Ray Bans boast polycarbonate lenses with 100-percent UV protection, and a fashion-forward square-shaped frame that will keep you looking—and feeling—spiffy. Originally almost $200, these are down to $119.
