You may not be overly eager to purchase a season pass for next season, with the western part of the country winning the not-so-coveted award for warmest winter on record. But for one group of skiers, there’s at least one good reason to purchase: savings! Now, under a new program from Vail Resorts, Gen Z can purchase an Epic Pass at a major discount.
Vail Resorts announced a 20-percent discount for skiers aged 13-30 on Tuesday, slashing the price of an Epic Pass to $869 and the price of an Epic Local Pass to $649. According to Vail CEO Rob Katz, this new pricing structure for Gen Z skiers is here to stay for future seasons.

“We think the Gen-Z cohort is critical,” Katz said in an exclusive interview with SKI. “They are developing their habits in terms of how important skiing and riding are going to be to them … and I think it will be one of the faster-growing parts of our program next year, but it’s also important how we communicate with them, like through social media and engaging with influencers.”
While still young at heart, those over the age of 30 will not qualify for the discount, and 2026-’27 prices will debut at $1,089 for an adult Epic Pass and $809 for an Epic Local Pass. That’s about a 3.6 percent increase (which is a smaller increase from last year’s 6.5 percent).
Here’s what else you need to know:
- Skiers who visited any of Vail’s 37 North American resorts with a lift ticket during the 2025-’26 season can save up to $175 off the price of select Epic Pass options.
- The Epic Passes go on sale today (3/3/26) and will debut at their lowest prices of the season. Prices will increase throughout the spring and summer, and will go off sale sometime between late fall and early winter.
- No new resorts are joining the Epic Pass; however, traveling to Europe just became easier. Les 3 Vallées no longer requires a reservation at a partner hotel. Austria’s Arlberg is now the only area that requires Epic Pass users to stay in select accommodations.
- Buddy Passes will continue to offer friends and family of Epic Pass holders 50 percent off day tickets.
