After 15 Years, a California Ski Resort's Summer Bike Park Is Closing

After 15 years of operation, the bike park at China Peak, California, will operate for a few more days this summer before calling it quits.
Serviced by the ski area’s Chair 1, the park includes 26 trails spanning 21 miles. It’s also hosted the California Enduro Series and the Southwest Downhill Series, two multi-stop tours.
Both those races remain on the calendar. The Southwest Downhill Series is set for June 20 and June 21. The California Enduro Series is set for July 11, 2026.
Alongside the races, China Peak will spin its lift for the public on June 20 and 21, July 4, and September 6. Adult tickets cost $60.

“We want to sincerely thank everyone who has been a part of the bike park in one facet or another. Thank you to all of our summer pass-holders and dedicated locals, our volunteers, trail builders, lift operators, racers and sponsors!” wrote China Peaks general manager Troy Cohee in a letter shared on social media. “It has been a privilege to provide California, Fresno, and our nearby communities with a unique biking experience over the years.”
“We encourage everyone to come get their last laps in this summer season, enjoy a cold one and reminisce with old friends of the good times spent at the China Peak Bike Park,” Cohee added.
The message didn’t include a reason for the end of mountain biking at China Peak.
The looming closure comes on the heels of news that Dodge Ridge won’t operate its bike park this summer, leaving fewer lift-served bike options in California.
“Thank you to our riding community for your support over the last 4 years,” a message on Dodge Ridge’s website reads.
Still, other places in the Golden State are keeping their mountain bike parks going. Two of the Big Bear Mountain Resort ski areas, Snow Summit and Snow Valley, have bike parks. Mammoth Mountain’s sprawling bike park covers more than 80 miles of single track, with lift-served access scheduled to start on June 19.
