Ahead of the 2026/27 ski season, Washington’s Mt Baker Ski Area has unveiled a new logo. The ski area’s previous logo has been in use since 2001, although it was revised slightly in 2016. The new logo was designed by Bellingham local Terra Johnston, who grew up snowboarding at Mt. Baker and now works as the ski area’s graphic designer.
Johnston was given just two parameters for the logo: it had to have the mountain and a raven in it, somewhere. Having created numerous designs for Baker’s mountain signage, season passes, and other branded items that had the mountain and raven iconography already, Johnston found herself a bit stumped when she started on the new logo.
Ultimately, she drew inspiration from the raven sculpture at the entrance to the White Salmon park lot at Baker, from the text used in the logo used by the ski area from 1988-2000, and from a video of a raven she watched as a drawing reference. The new logo has Mt. Baker drawn as the wing of a raven as it points east, towards the mountain.
Current Mt. Baker Ski Area season pass holders will receive a hat with the new logo in the mail with their 2026/27 pass. The ski area’s retail shop will also sell items featuring the new logo, as well as continue to sell merch with old logos.
Since it opened in the 1950s, Mt Baker has gone through seven different iterations of the logo. The second version was designed by Duncan Howat, who worked as the ski area’s general manager from 1968 until 2024. Howat was also a staunch supporter of the raven symbolism and provided Johnston with input on the newest version as well.

Mt. Baker hasn’t announced an opening day for the 2026/27 season just yet, but the ski area will host a season launch party at Kulshan Brewing in Bellingham on September 10, 2026. Season pass merch will be on sale with the new logo at the event.
