Ragged Mountain, New Hampshire, has a new general manager, Alan Wickstrom, officially set to start on August 17, 2026.
The name Wickstrom may be familiar to locals. Previously, he led mountain operations at Ragged. And for the past four years, he worked as vice president of operations at Loon Mountain, “helping run one of the largest, most complex operations in the Northeast,” Ragged wrote in a social media post.
“He’s a Danbury local, a passionate Ragged skier, and—as he put it to us himself—this is his home mountain…the place his kids have grown up skiing,” Ragged’s post continued.
The ski area asked locals to “join us in welcoming Al back to Ragged,” adding “the future is bright here at Ragged Mountain and we are so glad Al is here to share in the journey with us.”
In a news release, Wickstrom said that Ragged is where he learned the ski business. Leaving Loon was “genuinely hard,” he continued, but “when this opportunity came up, I knew in my heart it was the right one.”
“I’m excited to bring everything I’ve learned through the years in this industry and apply that knowledge to a mountain I already know well, and for a community I’ve been part of for a long time,” Wickstrom said.
As for his favorite run, “Sweepstakes is near the top of the list, but on the right day, it’s hard to beat Not Too Shabby,” he said.
Ragged also thanked Brenda Belmonte, who led the mountain as interim general manager this summer, and said folks can come meet at Wickstrom and the rest of the team at the Kinfolk Music & Arts Festival this Saturday.

Ragged, to those who haven’t been introduced, stands outside Concord, New Hampshire. It spans 57 trails and 250 acres of skiable terrain.
As of November 2025, the ski area is owned by SF Mountain Co, LLC, a group led by six close friends who, according to the Ragged website, “grew up skiing at Ragged and have deep ties to Danbury and the surrounding region.”
