Völkl Revolt 101 All-Mountain Ski
Lengths: 168, 175, 182, 189 cm
Dimensions: 133-101-115 mm
Pros and Cons
+ Exceptionally nimble
+ Floats well above its waist size
– A little light for crud-busting
– Skis shorter than advertised
Consider this a Völkl recommendation for the anti-Völkl skier—the one who’s clicked into a Kendo or Mantra and thought, nah, too much work. The Revolt 101 is a different animal entirely. Unlike the Mantras that demand commitment and reward precision, the Revolt 101 is playful and energetic, releasing from an edge as easily as it engages one.
Part of Völkl’s freeski-inspired Revolt lineup, the 101 stands apart from its twin-tipped siblings with a directional shape and pintail—making it more composed on groomers while still carrying the family’s playful DNA. Strip away the Mantra’s Titanal frame and you get an all-mountain ski that’s lighter, softer, and far more forgiving, without losing the ability to charge. On snow, it skis like a narrower all-mountain ski despite its 101 millimeter waist—quick edge-to-edge, capable of holding a carve, and genuinely easy to turn. Off-piste, its generous rocker and softer flex make short-radius work in moguls and technical terrain feel effortless rather than exhausting. It also floats surprisingly well above its waist size on soft snow.
A few caveats: the Revolt 101 skis short, so size up if you’re looking for high-speed stability. And in heavy crud or at high speeds, the lack of metal is noticeable—this isn’t a ski built for hard-chargers looking for the Mantra’s rock-solid platform.
But that’s exactly the point. The Revolt 101 is Völkl’s most approachable all-mountain ski to date, ideal for skiers who want to move fluidly and creatively all over the mountain rather than muscle their way down it. Now on sale for $450, it’s a rare value in a category where playful and capable don’t usually come cheap.
