The Old Farmer’s Almanac Winter 26/27 forecast is here, and if their predictions are true, it could be good news for skiers in New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, and the southern parts of Vermont and New Hampshire.
Shown on the full map below, ski resorts in this region are expected to experience a “Cold, Snowy” winter, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac. This could be influenced by the impending El Niño, which tends to produce Nor’easters that can wallop the Mid-Atlantic with snow.
One thing to note for skiers in northern Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine, however, is that the Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts winter will be “Mild, Dry.” That’s not a good sign, but remember that long-range winter forecasts are rarely accurate.

The last two winters were particularly fantastic for northern Vermont. The rest of New England and the mid-Atlantic reported above-average snowfall as well.
Camelback, Pennsylvania, offered skiing into May for the first time ever, thanks to favorable snowmaking conditions and a little help from Mother Nature.
If the Old Farmer’s Almanac forecast is true, it could be a great season to chase storms in regions that most East Coasters drive past on their way to the bigger and typically snowiest peaks of northern New England.
